January 29th departure

All went well on the way down . Quick flight to Toronto and then 5.5 hours of nicotine deficient airtime until we landed in San Jose. We then took a quick cab ride to the hotel. It was very clean and had beautiful grounds. Large palm and banana trees and lots of birds flying overhead and occasionally stopping to drink form the pool.

All the houses and hotels have gates which shielded them from the street. I also
noticed that they all had a pipe leading to a sewer. Not sure what ran thru those pipes or if I want to know.

We walked to an open air restaurant and had a very good dinner including the best chips and guacamole I had ever had. It gets dark around 6p.m. apparently because Costa Rica is so near the equator.

Francine fell asleep around 7 p.m. and Rosie soon after. It was quite late before I could fall asleep because of the barking dogs and the freight train ( Francine snoring ) in the bed beside me.
