Hi there - there was a last minute change in our plans on Tuesday. Instead of going to the animal sanctuary, we headed to Pavones by taxi. Took an hour for 10 miles. The road is incredible and off-roadish, made for a Jeep. How I miss my old Jeep to treck around in these backwoods of the jungle. Once there, the tide was low and the waves were virtually non-existent. As recommended by Susan, we headed to the river that flows into the Ocean. It was a nice walk, as you can see from the pix. When we returned to the bar, we met a couple of real surfer dudes -- one from California and the other from Colorado --
and they were heading back up from Columbia....(ahum). They were waiting for the big swell of waves which was coming in three days. The bar at Pavones is incredible. Right by the water with an interrupted view of the 3/4 mile long surf...when it's up. So people are hanging around, doing nothing except drinking beer....very quiet little place. Tim played ping pong against the Colorado surfer dude and lost. We came back home after a couple of hours. We watched a really neat storm coming from the North EAst later in the afternoon. You'll see pix of that above. For supper, we headed to Sol Y Mar for the Mardi Gras celebration. No pix. Let me just say that there was glitter, music and "bras" involved. I will say no more. Anyways, we're waiting to see now if we're heading to the sanctuary...Rosie has her fingers crossed.
Tata for now.
