Put the lime in the coconuts, and drink it all up....

Francine
Last night, after writing in the blog, we had our very first hard rain fall. Torrential rain. I thought at first that someone had dropped a whole bag of stones or ice on the roof. The house has a tin roof. What a sound. It rained for quite a while, which is good for keeping the dust down on the sandy road. Today, we didn’t do much except for hanging around the beach, swimming in the ocean, beachcombing and sleeping. While I was snoozing on the hammock, Rosie came over and sat with me, then that’s when one of the ends of the hammock snapped. Boom. Ouch. Then I broke a plate which contained fresh melons while carrying outside. I later walked on a tiny little chip, and Rosie gave me first aid.:)

We gave bananas to the birds and papaya to the lizards who come running when they stuff the orange stuff on the ground. They are so funny. Did a bit of drawing and then just before sunset, walked on the beach. Noted the great number of hermit crabs all over the beach. They are so small yet adorable and have lovely shells. Then Rosie and I prepared fajitas for dinner, with fresh tortillas (out of this world), refried beans (yes, from the same batch made a few days ago), rice and beans (ditto), fresh avocado dip, homemade salsa and cheese. Rosie and Tim each ate three while I had two. Then we walked over to Sol Y Mar for dessert. On the road we saw so many crabs walking about -- purple pinces and back shell and orange back legs! They are too small to eat but great to watch.

When we arrived at Sol Y mar, the same gang of people from last night at Oceano’s were already there. Apparently the musicians for tomorrow night’s benefit concert were expected to arrive anytime to play there later. Tomorrow night, Taj Mahal is the main draw for the concert and upon checking the web site, one of the Allman brothers will be there along with one of the guitarist with the Grateful Dead....should be excellent. This event is attracting quite a number of people from all around. All the cabinas and houses in Zancudo are rented out and all the flights in and out of Golfito are booked solid right up until Sunday, which is when Suzanne arrives. Next Monday, we have arranged for the river tour with Susan and on Tuesday, the animal refuge. Wednesday, we’re likely to rent a car and explore other areas.
That’s all to report! Nighty night

The rain last night resulted in some fairly large puddles today that made for interesting bicycling when I went to the store to get supplies. It must really be a mess when the rainy season is here. I read some where that it was not unusual to get 10 inches of rain in a day. You probably would have to navigate the streets in canoes instead of bicycles.

We did a lot of snorkelling, looking for shells. The best time to do this seems to be in the morning before the wind comes up and the waves are so strong as to whip up the sand and make the water murky.

Does anyone out there have a recipe for crabs, these are not big crabs bur rather small ones no more that 4 or 5 inches across the shell. The pincers are not big enough to hold enough meat to make them edible.

Note to Granny: are you reading this blog? If so, please write!
Merci de vos beaux messages -- thanks to all for your great messages.

Hi Guys:

I can confirm that both Granny and Brian in Tuscon, Arizona are reading the blog. I will have to teach Granny how to make a posting.

Jeremy played hockey tonight and they lost 12-0. The Sens did better beating Montreal 3-1.

Rosie,

I just talked to Granny this morning too and she said she was reading your blogs, but she got confused on how to reply to them so she said she was going to get Aunt Kathy to show her how to do it...so Aunt Kathy, teach her this weekend!

I hope you are all having a good time and because I have nothing to do at work today (Friday)I thought I would check out your site and see what you did yesterday but there was nothing posted. Get out of bed and update us!!

PS - Our news here Kayleigh is registered for junior kindergarden in September and is so excited. She will be going to school with Mason her "Rump" cousin and can't wait! Kelseigh has learnt the word "Bad" from Kayleigh and is walking around the house saying bad, bad bad!

Wow, what a great site. You guys look like you are in paradise and loving every minute of it. It has been freezing cold here, so seeing Rosie Roo in her bathing suit, frolicking in the waves turns me a shade of green!!!
I'm glad the coconut and fruit are plenty. We are trying to find time to look at the site and have the kids see everything. Thanks fro sharing this all with us. You must be sleeping like logs at night.
