Winding down for the big "D"

(Tim)
The last 2 days have been spent around the house and the village of Zancudo. Yesterday morning, Rosie and I went to Oceana for breakfast . While we were eating, the squirrel monkeys (tici)were playing in the trees across the street. On the way home we saw the biggest lizard we have seen to date. His body was about 4 feet long and the tail another 2 feet. We also saw today ( Sunday ) a bees nest in a metal hydro pole. Yesterday, Sylvain’s gardener left a termite nest on the beach to be taken away by the surf. We poked at it with a stick and thousands of termites came out. We have photos but I do not think they do justice to how many termites there were.

Today also we saw a cruise ship pass by . This ship did not stop just went up the bay turned around and came out again. Sylvain says that one of the cruise lines does come and people get off to visit the botanical gardens.

I think we have mentioned this before, but the wildlife here is amazing, so many different types of birds. There are more species of birds in the Osa peninsula than there are in all of North America. When we leave a banana for the birds to feed on, there are various species (both female and male) that make their rounds. And of course, our friendly lizards.

I wish we had seen more fish. While we have seen some snorkelling, it is just a small percentage of the types of fish that live around here, we have not seen any of the big fish that live in this area. Apparently, deep sea fishing has not been terrific in the last two weeks. Tomorrow, we head out once again to snorkel, our last activity before our departure
